Grace Falconer

Grace was the wife of Club Member Andrew Falconer.

Together with her friend and neighbour Mary Fairbairn she prepared the meals for the Club’s Annual Suppers in 1921, 1922 & 1923 when circumstances forced the events to be moved to the ‘Workmen’s Clubrooms’ (now the children’s nursery adjacent to Balerno Library).

Their services were Toasted at each Supper although it was maybe a sign of the times that replies to the Toasts were made by other Club Members.

In the Minute of the Committee Meeting of 2nd February 1923. the following was recorded; “It was agreed to present a pair of gloves each to Mrs Falconer and Mrs Fairbairn in recognition of their valued services in catering for the dinner.”
