William became a member of ‘Let it Blaw’ c.1881 and was first mentioned in the Toast List/Programme in 1883
Not much is known about William Smith. He was a Tailor in Balerno, apparently working from his home, in the early 1880s.
In the 1883 record of Club business, it’s shown that William was appointed to a sub-Committee late in 1882. That would surely have been unlikely in his first year of Membership so it’s quite likely he was one of the original 23 Gentlemen who first attended ‘Let it Blaw’ in 1881.
