David was Minister of Balerno United Free Church from 1901 to 1929, then the first Minister of Balerno Parish Church from 1929 until his death in 1940. He was Joint Chaplain with Rev. David C. Stewart of Currie Parish Church on the following years:
1922, 1923, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, 1936, 1937, 1938

Rev Turner was invited to the 1902 Supper as a Guest of the Club but was unable to attend. He became a member of ‘Let it Blaw’ in 1911 and was first mentioned in the Toast List/Programme that year.
