340.   Balerno Burns Club.   The Anniversary Supper was held in the Kestrel Hotel,

Balerno on 25th January 1986, Edward McCue in the Chair. Alex Hood gave the toast to

the ‘Immortal Memory.’

Balerno Burns Club Annual Dance. ‘A Nicht wi’ the Lasses’ was held in Balerno

Bowling Club hall on Friday 20th November 1985 starting with a Burns Supper. The

haggis was piped in by Kerr Cowan & addressed by Jimmy Johnstone. I said the

‘Selkirk Grace’ and then it was on with the dancing and social evening into the wee

sma’ hours. The children of Deanpark Primary School, Balerno had their annual Burns

Supper.  It was a shortened version this year owing to Industrial Action but the children

Really enjoyed it. The children’s song and verse competitions were carried out very

efficiently. The Primary 7, 6 & 5 first, second & third winners go forward to compete in

the Edinburgh & District Burns Federation Competitions which will take place within the

the Royal Musselburgh Golf Club premises on Saturday 15th March commencing 1.30pm.
