Proposer of the Toast  “The Navy & The Army” or “Imperial Forces”  1907

Nichol became a member of ‘Let it Blaw’ c.1900 and was first mentioned in the Toast List/Programme in 1902.

There seems to have been some confusion over the spelling of this Member’s name with his first name recorded as both Nicol and Nichol, and his surname as both Swan and Swann. Enquiries on the “Scotland’s People” website point to the only individual in the Edinburgh area with such a name being a Nicholas Swan who stayed at 80 Bonaly Road, Edinburgh, described in the 1901 census as a “Brewers Traveller.”
