Arthur was never a member of ‘Let it Blaw.’ He was however one of the best known residents of Balerno during a lengthy spell as the village Postmaster.
Arthur was the President of the Marchbank Burns Club when he attended ‘Let it Blaw’ in 1989, 1990 and 1991 as our Guest. His great friend and neighbour in Lovedale Avenue, Jim Tait , was President of ‘Let it Blaw’ during the same period.
Six days later, Jim represented ‘Let it Blaw’ as Guest of the Marchbank Burns Club at their Supper. For the rest of the year, after the January business was done, the two cronies just socialised; more often than not in Brows .
On each occasion Arthur attended ‘Let it Blaw’, he gave “Grace After Meat” and Jim performed the same duty the following week at the Marchbank Supper.
