William became a member of ‘Let it Blaw’ in 1886 and was first mentioned in the Toast List/Programme that year.
William was the brother of long time President of ‘Let it Blaw’ Tom Horsburgh, He also served his time as a blacksmith at their fathers smiddy in Duddingston. It’s believed William also moved to the Currie/Balerno area although, as it was an era with numerous blacksmiths in the two villages, there’s nothing to show that he worked at either of his brother’s Balerno smiddies.
