Mr Bird succeeded Alex Grieve as Headmaster of Balerno School in 1943.
As his stay in Balerno was during the war when ‘Let it Blaw’ was barely active, we have no way of knowing the extent to which he supported the Burns competitions within the School.
He left Balerno School in 1945 at which time he was succeeded by Mr Couper.
