Saturday 24th January 1976
–
At a Committee Meeting in the Secretary’s House on 17th November 1975,
Eddie McCue proposed that all future Suppers be held on Saturdays due to the many other Suppers on the Friday evening.
It was therefore agreed that the Supper would be held on Saturday 24th January 1976 and continue on Saturdays on a trial basis.
–
Over 40 years later we assume its still being evaluated ! As if that wasn’t enough controversy for one year,
in the Letter from Willie Shanks to Bob ‘Sweep’ Brown re 1976 AGM written just after the 1976 Supper,
the subject of whether Ladies should be admitted to Let it Blaw appears to have been on the Agenda.
It’s assumed that’s still under consideration too.

Death of Significant Club Member
–
In the summer of 1980, an entry was made in the Club Minute Book by Secretary Willie Shanks in which he recorded the death of Robin Rankin. Together with his brother Harry, Robin had been the rock on which the Club existed from its resumption after the war years in 1955, through to the present day. Robin’s renditions of “Tam O Shanter” and the “Address to a Haggis” were legendary and, for many years, annual events at the Club Suppers.
