The Toast List states “George Orr” proposed this Toast,
but the Secretary’s Report of the Supper records him being thrown out due to his drunken behaviour
long before the Toast was proposed. It’s not recorded who replaced him.

In Club Secretary Willie Shanks’ report of the 1974 Supper, he remarked that Club Member Nelson Baillie, who proposed “the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns,” had a family connection to the Club’s Founder Members. Nelson was the son-in-law of past President Bertie Tennant who, in turn, was son-in-law of the late John Fairbairn, Secretary for over 50 years since the Club’s formation.
