Death of Significant Club Member
–
It was recorded in the Secretary’s report of the 1983 Supper that when singing “There was a Lad”, the Company had to help Harry Rankin who had “lost his boistrousness.” At the age of 89 this perhaps wasn’t surprising ! The Secretary added “it was the same later when he sung ‘Green Grow the Rashes’ and, during The Balerno Song which Harry had sung at every Supper since 1934, he had to be assisted by Jack McCaig.”
–
Harry Rankin, the Club’s Honorary President, died in August 1983 just short of his 90th birthday.
–
A Member of Let it Blaw for 58 years, Harry was one of most valued Members in our Club’s history
